Renewal. A fresh start. A “do-over.” How many of us would give anything to have a second chance? Yet, we did the best we could with the information we had at the time. We could have not done otherwise because our brains, our minds, our bodies were not in a different state. We had the awareness that we did, so we did what we did; and the alternative was not actually an alternative. The ‘alternative path’ we think we could have taken only exists in retrospect, when we reflect on the past with the information we have now. This painting, one that I did later in the journey of my consciousness, represents the cleansing and purifying of self-inflicted guilt for mistakes and lost opportunities. I still live with some of these, but each day I forgive myself a little bit more. “Showers of Mind” is about letting go, letting forgiveness wash over your unconscious brain-mind so you can accept the past. My hope is that each time you see this image, you feel more and more renewed and rejuvenated to accept the past and revel in the present.
