While the original canvas had 4 different paintings, each layered over the last, the central flower emerged through every layer of paint and water as if to announce its presence, its fortitude and its permanence in a chaotic external world that tried to dim its light and hide its glory. The final painting is the one you see here; an image of a glowing central flower surrounded by shimmer and darkness and enveloped in a green and blue world of privacy and tranquility. It is a world once hidden and secluded from everyone and everything, now accessible and available and symbolizing self-love and self-discovery.

The Love of My Life is indeed about finding infinite, eternal, and unconditional love from within and through a wild series of events, this flower that persisted through iteration after iteration found its final home with Grace Hightower - actress, entrepreneur, and spouse to Robert de Niro for 20 years.
